Synopsis

At the start of a new school year, second-year high school student Kuroki, an unremarkable and quiet boy, is assigned a new seat—next to Mai Chihara, a girl rumored to be a "dangerous" jirai-kei type. With her doll-like complexion, red-rimmed eyes, and constantly somber expression, she certainly looks the part. Although wary at first, Kuroki gradually realizes that Mai is not quite what the rumors suggest. Her unpredictable behavior often leaves him confused, but as he spends more time beside her, he begins to notice unexpected sides to her personality. Despite her intimidating appearance, Mai turns out to be awkward, oddly sincere, fond of cats, and full of surprising quirks. As Kuroki's impression of her slowly changes, their everyday classroom interactions take on a new tone.
